Great video, I’m bodybuilding and trying to figure out how much carbs vs fat I need to build, maintain muscle and lose body fat. This video is very helpful in understanding carbohydrates.

@TheRogueMonk R,aw carb sugggestions. #1 is….BANANAS!!! I used to HATE bananas but have transitioned to larger amount of raw food diet and it is SO GOOD (i’ve done research) and find I like it now.
Also SEEDS are fantastic! I like pumpkin and sunflower seeds! they have large amount of good carbs, Yams and carrots are great though I still find Bananas to be good raw carb source. Have fun trying some, you don’t have to cook food to get good carbs, and NO POTS & PANS TO WASH! (fav part!)

@b4youreyes88 for the last 2 million years mankind has eaten only fats and proteins and some fiber. Large amounts of carbs in our diet has only occurred in the last 5 to 10 thousand years. We have not evolved to eat carbs and they are the main cause of degenerative disease as well as diabetes, obesity and even acne.

  8. animalmagnetism69 Says:

@TheRogueMonk You don’t need “complex” carbs. Complex carbs are a myth anyway, if you look at the glycemic index of most “complex” carbs they are usually higher than table sugar. Try loading up on fats and proteins and do your same workout. If you have a very high protein high fat, low carb diet, you’ll be amazed at how strong you become and how long lasting your energy levels are.

  9. TheRogueMonk Says:

hey guys! i might be gluten intolerance i workout allot and hard i depend on complex carbohydrates .. can someone give me an alternative to bread which can be very good for you and your energy levels all day?

That’s great i am glad that some posted this! So i have a question! This new Lipton Lenea that has been released lately says that it increases metabolism rate and helps you lose fat but as i was looking the bottle it says that it has fructose!!!!!!! So how can this be? if this glucose is natural then is probably ok but if it’s not? How can this increase your metabolism?

  11. kbonez2 Says:

@b4youreyes88 Gary Taubes book “Good Calories, Bad Calories” is a great place to start.

Gorilla’s may be strong, but the argument (I believe- I haven’t gone back and looked at the thread in months) was about carbohydrates leading to fat accumulation. The high carbohydrate content of a gorilla’s diet is to blame for their high body fat levels.

  12. rolas312 Says:

    i need graphs!!!

  13. b4youreyes88 Says:

@kbonez2 good point, where did you learn this? im interested. but i didnt mean gorillas were bodybuilders but their muscle fibers are ridiculously strong. theyd probably have a more lean physique if they werent parked on their rears eating all day for sure but they arent slouches by any means.

  14. kbonez2 Says:

Look into the cholesterol/heart health relationship a little bit. Its not nearly as strong as most people seem to think. The relationship between ingested cholesterol and your measured cholesterol levels is very low. The cholesterol in foods typically does not raise the level in our bodies. However, a prime catalyst that signals your body to produce cholesterol (and therefore has a significant impact on actual cholesterol levels in the blood) is ingested carbohydrates.

  15. kbonez2 Says:

    @b4youreyes88

I believe you’re thinking of a cartoon gorilla. Real life gorilla’s are not quite the bodybuilders you seem to think they are. Just do a google images search of gorillas to see what I’m talking about.

  16. b4youreyes88 Says:

@kbonez2 good point man, some people are all about meat, some dont want any meat period but isnt it true that everything is ok in moderation? just having a well balanced diet is probably the best thing people can do for themselves because a lot of us will die from causes unrelated to nutrition anyway. the reason animal products are bad though isnt largely due to the fat content but more the cholesterol content. our bodies can make all the cholesterol we need anyway so we dont need to consume it

  17. b4youreyes88 Says:

@kbonez2 dont gorillas eat an outrageous majority of plant foods? are they not ripped? im pretty sure everyone knows the eat bananas

  18. b4youreyes88 Says:

@b4youreyes88 this is why bodybuilders eat animal products, they see the gain faster than with plant protein. this is optional of course

  19. b4youreyes88 Says:

@MisterNutrition animal protein is the highest quality protein humans can consume. in fact, the most efficient protein we can eat is human flesh itself. this is because the formation of the amino acids is more similar from animal meat to human flesh than say from oatmeal to human flesh. HOWEVER, you can get all the necessary amino acids from different plants so there is no need to consume animal products ever.

great vid but I think its a bit longer than it actually deserves:)

  23. Johnny72689 Says:

Carbs are not utilized by our body as energy, they are broken down into sugar which is then taken care of by insulin, Fats are our sole source of energy

  24. Figuz Says:
